*** Windows XP Installation Instructions ***
To install the Prodif T 2496 wave driver under Windows XP (first-time installation):
1. When the Prodif T 2496 card is detected by Windows, the "Found New Hardware Wizard"
will appear to help you install the device drivers for the Prodif T 2496. When the
wizard appears, select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)" and
click "Next>".
2. Select "Search for the best driver in these locations", and make sure the "Include
this location in the search" box is checked. Then click the "Browse..." button
and browse into the WinXP subdirectory on your Prodif T 2496 Driver Installation disk.
If you downloaded the Prodif T 2496 drivers, browse into the WinXP subdirectory in the
directory where you unzipped the driver files. Then click "OK" to select the
directory. Click "Next>" to instruct Windows to install the new driver.
3. If Windows displays a window saying "The software you are installing for this hardware
has not passed Windows Logo testing", click "Continue Anyway" to continue the driver
installation process. Because Microsoft has not tested this driver, this window warns
you that untested drivers can destabilize your computer. This is not an error. It
is simply a notice that Microsoft does not guarantee the quality of this driver.
4. Wait for Windows to install the driver files on your computer. When installation
is complete, click "Finish" to end the Found New Hardware Wizard.
5. When the system asks if you want to restart the computer, click "Yes".
This step is required to complete the installation process.
To update the Prodif T 2496 wave driver under Windows XP (updating to a new driver):
1. Open the System Control Panel, and select the "Hardware" tab. Then, click the
"Device Manager..." button in the middle of the System Control Panel.
2. When the Device Manager window appears, click the "+" symbol to the left of the
"Sound, video and game controllers" entry to open a list of audio and video devices.
3. Double-click the entry for the "Prodif T 2496" to open the Prodif T 2496 Properties
dialog, and select the "Driver" tab.
4. Click the "Update Driver..." button to start the Hardware Update Wizard.
When the wizard appears, select "Install from a list or specific location (Advanced)"
and click "Next>".
5. Select "Search for the best driver in these locations", and make sure the "Include
this location in the search" box is checked. Then click the "Browse..." button
and browse into the WinXP subdirectory on your Prodif T 2496 Driver Installation disk.
If you downloaded the Prodif T 2496 drivers, browse into the WinXP subdirectory in the
directory where you unzipped the driver files. Then click "OK" to select the

*** Release notes ***
Known issues with this release:
1. This driver has not been extensively tested on Windows NT SMP systems.
2. When an application using the Prodif T 2496 crashes, the Prodif T 2496 driver is
not closed by the application; this causes subsequent open requests to fail.
This condition can be cleared by rebooting the computer.
